Wellpoint Hall of Fame Series Baltimore
The Wellpoint Hall of Fame Series Baltimore returned to CFG Bank Arena on Monday for its second straight year, bringing together four Maryland programs (three from the greater Baltimore area) for an exciting doubleheader to open their college basketball season. The day featured Maryland taking on Coppin State in the first game, followed by an all-Baltimore matchup between Loyola (MD) and Towson in the finale.
The event marked a special moment for Maryland basketball, as new head coach Buzz Williams made his Terrapin debut on the sidelines. Also, during that game, the program honored legendary former Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame coach Gary Williams, celebrating his contributions to Maryland basketball history.
Despite a challenging start to the day, as operations and communications staff were unable to access the arena that morning, the Position Sports team pulled off a seamless event setup amid multiple school shootarounds. From locker room preparation and signage installation to broadcast coordination, team arrivals, media logistics, and the full run of show, every detail came together in time for tipoff.
Beyond the hardwood, the Hall of Fame Series made a meaningful impact in the Baltimore community, hosting a basketball clinic for Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) students in late October, led by legendary local coach Herman Harried. Additionally, Wellpoint employees volunteered at the new Baltimore Ravens Boys & Girls Club at Hilton Recreation Center, where they helped unbox and assemble sports and fitness equipment requested by the Club and organized it within designated storage areas.
The Wellpoint Hall of Fame Series Baltimore combined competitive college basketball with community engagement, delivering another successful event at CFG Bank Arena.
