Marathon Team Series x PDX

Last weekend, Position Sports supported the Marathon Team Series (MTS) at its inaugural half-marathon team competition embedded within the Portland Marathon. MTS is a team-based format built into major half and full marathons: teams of seven compete cross-country-style, with the top five finishers contributing to a time-based team score that’s age- and gender-adjusted for a level playing field. Position Sports partnered with MTS on social media, graphic design, press kit creation and content capture leading into race weekend and on site.

The two-day experience opened Saturday with the MTS × lululemon Shakeout Run in Portland’s Pearl District, where athletes connected with the MTS community, loosened up on an easy route, and received exclusive lululemon merchandise. With camaraderie building at the expo and pre-race carb-load events, teams hit the course Sunday ready to compete. At the finish, runners enjoyed a VIP-style hospitality moment, received the custom MTS × PDX Finisher Pin, and celebrated with friends and family.

Throughout the weekend, Position Sports managed live coverage across platforms with platform-specific copy, real-time posting, and rapid-turn edits. We coordinated on-site access with Portland Marathon operations, supported the MTS footprint and run-of-show, and delivered a race-day recap video alongside a curated photo set for immediate use. The result was an authentic, team-forward storyline that showcased Portland, celebrated the runners, and strengthened the Marathon Team Series brand heading into future markets.
