BARCELONA (March 10, 2014) - Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc., hosted its eighth annual Jordan Brand Classic camp from March 7-9 featuring the top 16-and-under basketball talent from around Europe. The purpose of the camp was to select 10 participants who will compete in the International Game at the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn, NY next month.
Each year, in order to select the international players, Jordan Brand invites 40 of the top European prospects for a 3-day training camp with some of the top basketball trainers in the United States. Christopher Thomas and Ganon Baker held strength & conditioning and skills development sessions each day along with 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 competitions led by Kyle Manary.
The camp annually includes the top players from over 20 different countries. Two of the top five picks in the 2011 draft class, Enes Kanter (Turkey) and Jonas Valančiūnas (Lithuania), participated in the 2008 Jordan Brand Classic International Game.
The 3-day camp includes strength training, skills training and individual development sessions. All of the sessions are geared toward teaching the athletes how to improve themselves and their skills to compete at the next level. The camp concluded with the announcement of the camp’s two all-star teams and the selection of the 10 players who will be featured on the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic International Game roster. The International Game roster will be rounded out with 10 players selected from around the world to join the 10 from the camp to compete at the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 18th.
