In 1920, Henry Ford discovered a process of turning wood scraps from the production of Model T’s into charcoal briquets. With that knowledge and the assistance of his relative, E.G. Kingsford, a legendary charcoal manufacturing company was born.
Originally named Ford’s Charcoal, the brand was eventually renamed to Kingsford® Charcoal.
Kingsford Products Company is the leading manufacturer of charcoal in the United States with more than one million tons of wood scraps converted into superior quality charcoal every year. Ford could have never imagined how the popularity of barbecuing and charcoal-grilled foods would grow over time.
Today, Kingsford products are available nationwide in grocery stores, mass retailers, drugstores, warehouse clubs and home improvement centers. With Kingsford charcoal, backyard cooking connoisseurs and grill masters can deliver deliciously smoky flavor at home, at campsites or tailgating at the big game.
Kingsford® Charcoal has existing partnerships with NASCAR and select NCAA Collegiate Athletic Programs.
